About me

I’m (not so eloquent) Emma, and i’m a 20-year-old University student studying English in the great white north (just Canada).

Along with English, i’m studying both publishing as well as film and when i’m not studying any of that i’m usually (badly) belting to my favourite musical theatre soundtracks or dreaming of my second life where i can sing

i’m just your typical sleep deprived gen z (or am i millennial?) who has an unhealthy obsession with NYC despite the fact that i would never be able to live there because i’m scared & in love with my home town.

[not so] eloquent emma is my little corner of the internet to post my thoughts, reviews, and overall feelings for my favourite (and least favourite) books, movies, and tv shows.

my favourite...

my favourite genre when it comes to reading is usually contemporary, and almost always young adult. Although, i have definitely been known to dip my toe in the sci-fi genre, and i love a good Stephen King book.

some of my favourite books are: The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky, and Picture Us in the Light by Kelly Roy Gilbert. Although, i will also add that i always have been and always will be the #1 fan of The Hunger Games. (oh and Harry Potter, duh)

when it comes to movies, my favourite genre is coming-of-age, although i’m also a sucker for some sci-fi or the biggest blockbuster that everyone is talking about.

Some of my favourite films are Little Miss Sunshine, Lady BirdFrances Ha, Baby Driver,The Perks of being a Wallflower, and Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping.

i could go on for days.

while i don’t have the time or attention span to watch as much t.v as i would like, if i’m going to watch something it’s going to be a comedy. i’m a huge SNL fan, and watch it each Saturday that it’s live (favourite cast members? probably Bill Hader, Kristen Wiig, and, Andy Samberg a la The Lonely Island.)

That being said, it’s a given that some one of my favourite TV shows would be Parks and Rec, Brooklyn 99, and The Office. Though i also love the Irish show Derry Girls and when it comes to drama i love me some Stranger Things and Succession .

I know you probably didn’t come here for musicals, but it’s a passion of mine and so i’m going to list a couple musicals that i love and i think everyone should see or at least listen to (even if you don’t like musicals!) :

  • Once
  • Spring Awakening
  • Les Miserables
  • Hadestown
  • The Book of Mormon
  • Little Shop of Horrors

okay, much like the movies i could go on forever. maybe i should just make a blog post dedicated to this?
